DESIGNED EXCLUSIVELY FOR YOU

The custom tailoring service allows a man to create a garment made exclusively for him. Zegna tailor Marco Gentile explains the process of personalization:

Marco says: «Every element of the individual style of a man can be emphasized and expressed in the garments of individual tailoring. I must make sure that each element starting with the design of the holes for buttons to the type of collar, is exclusively designed for him and is an impeccable match to his unique style.»

«I lead the client into the world of individually tailored garments. What kind of fabric to choose? What cut is the best? Italian collar or French collar? Double or Italian cuffs? Which buttons suit more, maybe pearls?»

All the elements can be selected individually, and the unique approach and perfection of the tailoring art of Ermenegildo Zegna allow to create a garment for a modern man, who combines the up-to-date style and functionality at the same time.

Suit sewing begins with the shoulders, the suit sits well only if it is properly sewn in the shoulders. The rest is already easier. Therefore, in the beginning the measurements are taken from the upper part of the body: first the neck, then the shoulders, chest, arms, back and waist.

The key of a good fit of a jacket is how well the shoulders and sleeves are sewn. For most jackets on the market, the seam between the sleeve and the body is performed on a typewriter. For our custom tailoring suits, it is done by hand.

FABRIC CUTTING
The fabric you ordered at the Lanificio Zegna cloth factory in Trivero, in the north of Italy, is delivered to the Zegna clothing cutters. Today they will do the cutting of the fabric for your garment. After cutting, a lot of elements from the fabric - for a normal jacket, their number can reach 100 - are marked with the customer's data and transferred to the next specialist. The path has only just begun.
STITCHING
Your garment starts to take shape. A professional tailor is working on each element, then together they begin the process of stitching and connecting the elements of the stylish men's clothing. Now elements that require special attention and care are sewn by hand.

«The stitching of most garments is done manually. For example, for all Ermenegildo Zegna jackets of individual tailoring, the stitching of the seam between the sleeve and the shoulder is done manually. Hand stitching is the only way to ensure the right tension in the stitches.»

PRESSING
An important pressing process begins. The jacket of a classical or business suit passes about 30 different stages of pressing. This process allows the garment to maintain the structure which will last for a long time.
FINAL INSPECTION
Creation of your garment of Su Misura stylish men's clothing is carried out by our tailors with the utmost care and attention. But the most vigorous test ahead is the final inspection, after which a label with your name embroidered on it, is sewn to it. This garment will soon be ready to be transferred to the client.

«Each garment undergoes many inspections during the manufacturing process. But the most vigorous test ahead is the final inspection, after which a label with your name embroidered on it, is sewn to it.»

PERSONAL LABEL
Создание Вашего предмета гардероба завершено, остались финальные штрихи. На данном этапе Ваш портной Su Misura пришивает этикетку с Вашим именем.

Concerning the choice of cut the client has always the last world: «You must show respect to the client, listen to his wishes and offer what suits him. Individual tailoring does not involve a loose cut: it's like a glove, your second skin. This is really important: it's not a tight fit, but it's your personal cut. Yours, for the whole life.»
